artist, Dale Martin, is a native of Kilgore, Texas. He
made his home in Fort Worth over 35 years ago. His inspiration for
painting came about 30 years ago from a local artist whose
detailed and realistic paintings he could not afford. Although he began
working mainly in oils at that time, he has since taken up watercolor and
color pencil drawings and has now began including bronze sculpture in his
artistic endeavors. Dale expressed an interest in art at a very early age, drawing cartoon characters from books, magazines and newspapers. He became interested in painting in the late 1960's when he noticed the detailed and realistic oil paintings of a local artist who had set up shop in a local department store with canvas and easel and many people gathered to watch him work. Seeing the prices of the work and knowing he couldn't afford to buy any, Dale set out to learn how to paint with oils, getting information and instruction from wherever he could. Although Dale's list of formal art studies may not be long, he strives to bring 19th century America and the Native American culture to life in his detailed paintings. He feels that every artist cannot help but be influenced by the work of other artists; however, he remains true to his goal of trying to depict scenes of the American West and Native American culture that have only been passed down as stories from one generation to the next. "The most amazing thing to me about art is how some artists can depict so much history and realism in a single painting" says Dale. "One work of art can say so much. That is why my main goal will always be to strive for the intricate detail and realism that depicts the old west the way I believe it was". |
All prints are lithograph prints produced on 100% acid free museum quality paper, using the highest UV rated inks available. When limited edition prints are produced, each print is inspected by the artist and individually hand signed and numbered. Once the artist has completed this process, the plates and negatives are destroyed to ensure the limited status of that particular work. |
